Cardiovascular Process

Assessment of Multi-Organ / Multi-District Atherosclerosis

Since atherosclerotic disease is a physiological evolutionary process, the following considerations aim to guide a possible and early “pre-clinical” identification of preferential sites where, through early diagnostic interventions, its presence can be identified and quantified. This would help contain and potentially reduce the damage it would cause in an advanced stage if not detected early.

According to the literature, it is known that in the atherosclerotic process, there is interaction and combination of risk factors:

  • Genetic (family history, low HDL, hyperhomocysteinemia)
  • Endocrine (diabetes)
  • Mechanical (hypertension)
  • Metabolic (cholesterol)
  • Toxic and neuro-mediated (smoking)
